DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM

The Doctoral Consortium aims to provide doctoral candidates feedback on their research projects, foster community among participants, and promote interaction with senior scholars. It also guides candidates in their academic journey, offering insights into the publication process and essential skills for effective communication and presentation. Themes will align with the research areas of the WOA community, and senior scholars will be involved at a ratio of at least 1:4 with doctoral candidates.

PROGRAM
May 28 | Informal Dinner – Location to be announced   

An informal dinner will be held on the evening before the event for all Doctoral Consortium participants, including students and mentors. All WOA participants are also welcome. The dinner is self-funded.

May 29th – Laboratorio A, Polo Micara, University of G. d’Annunzio, Pescara   

The Doctoral Consortium is organized in two sessions: Roundtable Discussion and Presentation and Plenary Session: Meet the Editor.

9:00 – 11:00 | Session 1: Roundtable Discussion and Presentation   

Doctoral candidates will begin with a one-minute pitch of their research projects, followed by detailed presentations in small roundtable groups. Each group will be facilitated by a senior scholar, allowing feedback from both the scholar and peers.

11:30 – 13:00 | Session 2: Plenary Session: Meet the Editor. The Editorial Process Unveiled   

Selected papers closest to journal submission will be presented. Prof. Maral Muratbekova-Touron (ESCP Business School, Editor-in-Chief of the European Management Journal) will provide live feedback, offering insights into the academic publication process. The session will conclude with a plenary discussion on key insights and future project developments.The session is open to all Doctoral Consortium participants.


SUBMISSION

PhD students must submit an extended abstract (max 3,000 words, including references and appendices) containing: title and author names, purpose of the research, theoretical background, research gap addressed, approach and methods, main findings and contributions (if available) 

Note: To be considered for Session 2 – Meet the Editor, a full paper must be submitted along with the abstract.

Deadline for submission:

Extended abstracts and full papers must be submitted electronically via EasyChair by April 13th, 2025.

Notification of acceptance will be communicated by May 4th.

To participate in the Doctoral Colloquium, registration for WOA 2025 is required
